As I wrote and published my recent book, it became clear how important perseverance is when you are working on a large project.  When you self-publish, you are responsible for all aspects of the process.  Obviously, you write the material.  Then, you need to ensure that the material is formatted correctly for both print and e-readers.  You must design a book cover or hire a book cover designer; and you have to learn about the technology platforms and requirements for the organization where you will be selling your book, i.e., Amazon or Barnes and Noble etc.  You will be responsible for marketing your own book as well.  There are a lot of details.
